The Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company Reviews

What is it like working at The Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company?

Solid Career.
Software Engineer in Milwaukee:
Pros: There are a lot of opportunities to learn new things.
Cons: The compensation system isn't clear to me. I got a .31% raise for "meeting expectations"...That's actually a pay cut because of inflation of 1.2% for 2020.
The best place I've worked.
Content Strategist in Milwaukee:
Pros: You get to be part of a huge design team. One of the best there is. And because writing is designing, you help influence the designs we make.
Cons: The teams still work in silos that seem nearly impossible to break down. It gets in the way and causes a lot of rework.
Great opportunities and chnallenges.
Human Resources (HR) Director in Waukesha:
Pros: Flexibility to epand my HR learning and leadership coaching
Cons: Crunching data
Software Engineer in Milwaukee:
Northwestern Mutual was once a great company to work for. New leadership has taken over and the company is a much more chaotic place to work. Now the company works with the mentality that layoffs will be ongoing as they are always looking for places to cut. Benefit have been cut quite substantially. Benefits are now competitive in the market instead of being a shining star which made Northwestern Mutual stand out. The company is trying to run like a start up (constant layoffs and reorgs), but with struggles to invest the necessary money to maintain and upgrade out of legacy technology.
Sometimes OK But Recognition and Pay are Lacking.
Recruiting Coordinator in Des Moines:
Pros: Some of my coworkers
Cons: being under appreciated and working hard doing menial work and getting nowhere
