The Methodist Hospital Reviews

What is it like working at The Methodist Hospital?

Good Opportunity for Learning.
Registered Nurse (RN), Critical Care in San Antonio:
Pros: I enjoyed the team itself minus direct management. My charges, fellow nurses, and patient population were wonderful experiences. I was able to use the height of my nursing license within my scope of practice and regularly use critical thinking. The doctors were mostly interested in investing time into educating their nurses to make an effective and cohesive team.
Cons: The management was ineffective and frequently threatened to turn in our licenses to the BON for "intent for poor nursing practice" which is not a reportable offense. They would give us extremely unsafe ratios, threaten us into taking the ratios, and then threaten us for taking those ratios and holding it over our heads. I think having a manager who has not only worked as a nurse on the specialty floor they're managing, but has also become charge nurse on that floor, should be a standard for qualifications for hiring a manager. This manager did not meet those specifications and it was glaringly obvious.
