The Detroit Medical Center Reviews

What is it like working at The Detroit Medical Center?

Currently a very intense environment.
Endoscopy Technician in Detroit:
Pros: Lots of flexibility within our work schedule
Cons: Our new management has no idea how the department operates and really has no plans on learning our operation. It was a great place to work many years ago. Upper management no longer cares,we feel.
Unappreciated.
Social Worker (MSW) in Detroit:
Pros: I like working with the population of patients here.
Cons: The workflow structure between Nurse Case Managers and Social Workers is highly biased in the nurse's favor. While everyone is under Case Management. RN are not required to have an advanced degree and only take care of Home Health and Medical Equipment. Social Workers on the other hand are required to have a MSW and are responsible for all placements (SNF, Group Home, ALF), guardianship cases, family meetings, insurance authorization, APS, CPS Referrals etc. We are also the "go to" profession for anything that doctors, nurses, administration doesn't want to deal with. We are also to blame for every patient exceeding the length of stay set by the administration.
