What is it like working at TEGNA INC.?
Veteran Reporter.
News Reporter in Indianapolis:
Pros: Different job every day meeting many people in my community
Cons: I can rarely complete my work in an eight hour day.
Rewarding Team/Job; Negligible compensation.
Senior Video Editor in Denver:
Pros: Forward-thinking and positive company culture
Departmental coworker camaraderie
Personable management
Rich in portfolio/award opportunities
High-quality deliverables, as a team and individually
Cons: Consistently under-compensated for market value
Year+ of inaction after soliciting clear feedback
Rampant resulting turnover
Stressful pace/high output demand
It's the job we all hate to leave, but ultimately have to, in order to make ends meet in this market - let alone grow professionally. They openly tell new hires that they're not compensated more because it's "an entry-level job" (it is NOT,) and that most people use this to launch their careers and move on. It's sad, honestly.
High stress for low pay.
News Producer in Columbus:
Pros: You have to really care about this work to suffer for it the way news people do. Therefore, you are always surrounded by passionate people who care about the same things you care about.
Cons: We get paid dirt for one of the highest stress industries out there, working 24/7/365.
Wonderful place to work with lots of growth and training opportunities.
Executive Producer in Denver:
Pros: The training and support the company offers and how they value their employees
Cons: Very high stress
A great place to work...an inclusive place, filled hard working working, intelligent, talented people.
Receptionist in Norfolk:
Pros: I enjoy the people and I enjoy what we do to help the community, providing factual, helpful information with regard to what is going on locally, nationally, in the world and weather-wise locally and otherwise.
Cons: Your efforts are not as easily or quickly noticed and rewarded, in departments other than News (i.e. Anchors, Reporters, Directors, Producers, etc..) like Admin/Reception.
News Anchor in Temple:
Pros: Flexibility to be creative and the respect from my managers to choose my own stories.
Cons: I feel I’m doing more work on an increasing basis and deserve better pay.
