Syracuse University Reviews

What is it like working at Syracuse University?

It's Educational.
Administrative Specialist in Syracuse:
Pros: The environment is very engaging and the campus has a great deal to offer to all employees through benefits and other experiences.
Cons: Staff are not truly valued, but are seen more as cogs. As employees leave their workload is usually shifted to other, already overloaded employees. More often than not, this is done without appropriate compensation. Raises for staff never go above simple cost of living, and often fall short of that meager level. Any pay increases are then returned to the University through increases in parking and insurance payments. Staff income stagnates for years, and more often than not, they fall back each year.
Great satisfaction is see people succeed.
Administrative Coordinator in Syracuse:
Pros: awarding trainee positions
Cons: not paid what i am worth
Film / Video Editor:
The organization I work for is great. SU, not so. They do not pay well for digital media individuals that work in video, graphic design, audio and photography as well as dealing with people's technology. They also constantly change insurance providers making it expensive, not to mention, yearly raises are equal across the board not merit based. You get between a 0.25% - 2% yearly raise, this does not cover the increased cost of living or inflation and if you want to come to work, you have to pay to park. So basically, you are paying SU to work for them to a degree. That raise will barely cover your yearly garage parking fee. Good luck.
