Save Mart Supermarkets Reviews

What is it like working at Save Mart Supermarkets?

Abusive Workplace.
Regional Manager, Loss Prevention in Sacramento:
Pros: Longstanding relationships with peers.
Cons: Leadership is hostile and not trustworthy. Transparency is not a strong point. Well below averages for salary in my department, 26k lower than state average. Responsibilities have tripled in the last four years with no increase in pay. expectation to work 12-14 hours a day while on salary, 24hr phone coverage and weekends are wrought with calls day and night. Calls average 3-8 a night, in the early morning hours.
It is very stressfully, due to the fact that managements pets get the good hours,,do what ever duties they want, get weekends off, have a better schedule than those who have seniority thru the union and have been there longer.
Produce Clerk (Grocery) in Modesto:
Pros: My coworkers(not all)
Cons: The lack of training with new employees, bringing in new hires from outside the company. The lag when it comes to union contract raises, reviews etc.
Heavy lifting, helping customers, sending orders.....
Meat Clerk in Carson City:
Pros: Setting up the butcher block and seafood case, making it look pretty makes me feel accomplished.
Cons: Supervision is out of touch! No matter how much they visit the stores they don't seem to get it. Everything from bringing in product that doesn't sell to the horribly ugly, uncomfortable, and impractical uniforms is a huge headache and while they say they want to hear our opinions and thoughts the response when you bring up an issue proves they really don't care.
Very compensating, although it can Be stressful from time to time.
Grocery Clerk in Tehachapi:
Pros: As I am the one in charge of the Dairy Deli department, I do my own decisions on a lot of things. But sometimes it is very overwhelming, too much to do, with no help.
Cons: Certain manager.
Disappointed with owners lack of respect for her employees and retired employees.
Lead Grocery Clerk in Atwater:
Pros: The customers
Cons: Top Management and Union representatives disregard for lower store employees.
Slave Labor.
Lead Grocery Clerk in Madera:
Pros: Long time customers that have become friends and family to several of us. They do give us a 10% discount on purchases or else their own employees couldn’t afford to shop within SaveMart.
Cons: Lack of opportunities, Union Reps that actually work and negotiate more for the employer and less for the union member employee. They are the reason we do not get cost of living, or longevity raises. And retirement formula for this store (The Golden 85) is a scam and bad joke.
