What is it like working at Re/Max Real Estate?

It's OK. Don't love it and don't hate it.

Pros: Overall reputable brand and organization that is widely recognized and competitive in terms of annual costs when compared to other big real estate brands, for full-time, producing agents.
Cons: While there are many successful agents within the company, everyone operates very independently, more so than with other real estate franchises. There is little to sense or feeling that you are part of something greater than your own business and very little interest in collaborating, sharing ideas, or helping each other out when needed. Similar to other brands, like KW and Coldwell Banker and Berkshire, agents have access to a robust platform of tools for managing their businesses, including contact management, templates for marketing materials, affiliated businesses like sign companies, and some extra services that you can opt in and pay extra for. The Re/Max tools are branded to Re/Max, just the KW are to KW, but very much alike or some virtually identical. With Re/Max, you pay higher monthly fees in exchange for keeping most (95%) of your commissions. For agents doing more than about $3m per year, this works out to about $20-21k per year between monthly fees and commission split, as the commission split caps. The total cost is virtually identical to Keller Williams and Coldwell Banker. It is just allocated differently due to the higher monthly fees offset by the lower commission split. There are also several newer, but increasingly popular brokerages with a much lower cost business model, like Realty One of NM, where agents pay a transaction fee per closing up to a much lower dollar amount.

Pros: The only thing that allows you a re spite is that you are allowed to take your lunch break whenever you feel the need.
Cons: There is very little in terms of freedom. You are forced to work long grueling hours with little to no compensation at times that make it impossibly hard to pay bills and expenses.
