Penn State - University Park Reviews

What is it like working at Penn State - University Park?

Positive work environment.
Compliance Specialist in Lewistown:
Pros: The people and impact i have on staff and students
Cons: The pay and lack of bonuses or cost of living increases
Associate Professor, Postsecondary / Higher Education in State College:
High perforning researcher atbthe head of my field internationally. Would never recommend this institution long term. This University has a corporation mind-set. I observed unchecked racism, sexism, and transphobia. I personally faced systemic gender discrimination and gaslighting for over a decade. Very poor support for LGBTQIA+ staff and faculty. No administrative ability to sanction offenders, and a focus on national funding at the expense of students, staff, and the life of the professional.
A lot of work - understaffed.
Information Technology (IT) Support Specialist in State College:
Pros: The retirement plan adds up quickly and the work is always constant. There is always something to do and be a part of.
Cons: The pay is low for the role. There was a conversation with IT directors 2 years ago stating that PSU IT was over $15M under the national average as a whole.
