Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) Reviews
What is it like working at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU)?
Great place to work, parking is tough.
Nurse Case Manager in Portland:
Pros: The culture of feedback at all levels.
Cons: It can take a while to get things going and approved as anything has to go through 10 committees.
Administrative Assistant in Portland:
There are some amazing people who work here at OHSU and I enjoy working with them immensely! But, as far as working at OHSU, I feel that the upper management really does not value our worth. They are not willing or just simply do not care to give us the respect we deserve for helping them reach #1 hospital status. Healthy bonuses are given to upper Administration, but when it comes to our compensation, they state that they can't afford cost of living increases!
OHSU Management does not value its staff.
Sr. Network Engineer in Vancouver:
Cons: Every contract negotiation for the last 20 years has been a bunch of take backs by management, showing just how little they value their employees
Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC):
Working with patients was the best part of the job. Management looks out only for themselves and would throw anyone under a bus, especially if you were willing to worked hard and they felt threatened by you in any way. Some managers (like mine) got away with working 3, sometimes 2 days/week, and was paid much more compared to the research staff, who seemed to be worked to death! Pay was very low, raises were few and far between, and promotions were non-existent. OHSU seems to forget the idea that if they look good care of their employees, they in turn take care of the patients. It is the job of management to support their staff, not to profit at their expense. I also witnessed unethical behavior with regards to the clinical trials at OHSU. I was very glad to resign and will never work for this organization again.
Infrastructure Analyst:
Great company. Good health benefit. Good communications. Many opportunities for those that contribute.
Can seem a bit disorganized as there are many competing projects relying on siloed/specilized teams.
