New York Life Insurance Company Reviews

What is it like working at New York Life Insurance Company?

Customer service is key and communication is your best friend.
Customer Service Representative (CSR) in Corpus Christi:
Pros: The opportunity to grow and the family like environment.
Cons: The bureaucracy of every decesion.
Analytics Manager in New York:
Pros: An established and financially secure company with family values and consistent 9-5 work schedule.
Cons: Very bureaucratic and hierarchical. Reviews are unilateral (manager to employee) and career progression is obfuscated. Roles, responsibilities, merit increase qualifications, and pay are not transparent. It is difficult to move from a senior associate level to CVP level. Women, especially women of color, are rare in higher level positions.
Rewarding.
Insurance Underwriter, Life in Cleveland:
Pros: I like the many opportunities for continuous learning.
Cons: Sometimes we’re slow to react to things, I wish we were more proactive around certain practices.
Love the Culture, Hate the Chaos.
Marketing Specialist in Tampa:
Pros: Direct manager, PTO, gym, flex schedule
Cons: Those who delegate are promoted more often and paid much more than those who actually do the work. Those who delegate and make decisions do not understand (or care?) what it takes to make their vision a reality.
Great place to work.
Learning and Development Specialist in Cornwall-on-Hudson:
Pros: People do their work with diligence.
Cons: Too many people involved in every decision
Comfortable.
Human Resources (HR) Specialist in New York:
Pros: Flexibility to learn
Cons: Hierarchy and delayed updates due to upper management
Actuary in New York:
Pros: The people are top notch, everyone is extremely helpful.
Cons: Working with smart people who want to make NYL better
