MDS Coordinator in Tampa:
Pros: Indepedendence, making a difference in the lives of some patients so they can recover and return home.
Cons: The capping of salaries of long term employees with no cost of living increases. The salary system at Baycare is based on annual merit increases with upper management dictating the maximum percent increase at annual review at 3% or less every year. Baycare has a set range for each job code and if you stay with the company for a long time you reach the top of the range and your wages are capped. When that happens you get a lump sum bonus at your annual evaluation that is based on 1% to 3% of your yearly wage. So in effect you can continue to work for years after your wages are capped and never make more. I have been capped for four years with the same take home pay but my cost of living has increased two fold with kids in college, property taxes shooting up because I live in a nice area and all other expences increasing. HR explained to me that Baycare only gives merit increase and no cost of living increase. Kind of like telling us "Thanks for being a loyal employee for all those years you stayed but we don't care about you and it;s your own fault you stayed." Also the way they calculate hourly salaries which appear below average when you do google searches. I suggested adding the benefit of cost of living increases to HR for all the long time employees who are capped and they just stated " We don't do that" Nice place!
