Kern County Reviews

What is it like working at Kern County?

Fire Captain in Bakersfield:
No public employee in any department of Kern County has had a pay increase in 11 years. Budget cuts are requested every year, and more work is constantly required every year due to the growth of the County population. Kern County Fire Department employees are paid 20% less than their local counterparts, the Bakersfield Fire Department. Despite not having a raise in 11 years, the County has only offered pay cuts for the last two offers sent to the firefighters union. Outlook for the near future for pay is dismal, with call volumes and risks increasing every year.
Extremely busy, demanding, & fast pace.
Office Assistant in Bakersfield:
Pros: There is always something to do.
Cons: Communication....
