Pros: I work second shift-without a lot of management hovering over me.
Cons: Maintenance is not a department, we are just part of line's team.
Good job, lousy executives.

Pros: I am mostly free to get my work done as I see fit, and the pay is good.
Cons: Shot mandate. Idiot-proofing the plant. Management butting into private lives, such as telling us not to attend big social gatherings.
You're not really a maintenance person, you're just an above-average mechanical fixer. There is no Maintenance Deppartment.
