Florida Department of Corrections Reviews

What is it like working at Florida Department of Corrections?

It's like being a Babysitter for a bunch of grown men who couldn't, and still can't behave themselves.
Food Service Supervisor in Waukee:
Pros: The benefits have been a big plus and the cost of Health insurance and the Pharmacy program was a big one for me because I take 9 different medications.
Cons: My drive to and from work is the thing I like least about my job. I have to cross a Time Zone on my commute.
It’s a stressful job but only meant for the strong minded. You deal with hundreds of different personalities and you have to keep your head on a swivel.
Correctional Officer in Berlin:
Pros: I like teaching new staff how to be a better officer and it’s anxious not knowing what each day can bring.
Cons: Dealing with negativity from inmates that are unruly however that’s all apart of the job and is expected.
DOC could be better.
Correctional Officer in Orlando:
Pros: Health benefits, paid leave, promotion opportunities
Cons: Pay is avg, stressful, don't feel heard, DOC seems more concerned about their image than doing what corrections was meant for, cater to inmates their families and legislation too often.
Often under appreciated.
Correctional Officer in Tallahassee:
Pros: Ability to work without micro management
Cons: Not appreciated
