East Carolina University (ECU) Reviews

What is it like working at East Carolina University (ECU)?

Rewarding teaching, vastly underfunded research, somewhat disfuncational administration and governance.
Associate Professor, Postsecondary / Higher Education in Greenville:
Pros: Teaching students, many of whom are enthusiastic first generation and/or minority students.
Cons: The endless administrative burden, some of which is pointless, some of which should be handled by administration. Administration has ever changing expectations. Administration fails to guide the institution in productive ways, if fails to =advocate effectively for students, staff, and faculty. It is lousy at fundraising. Research funding is all but non-existent compared to years ago at ECU and compared to comparable institutions.
I am the lowest paid for my job title.
Practice Administrator in Greenville:
Pros: I love finance in the healthcare section at the School of Medicine
Cons: the pay
Rewarding.
Accounts Receivable Manager in Greenville:
Pros: Autonomy and being appreciated
Cons: pay is to low
