Denny's Reviews

What is it like working at Denny's?

Team Leader, General in Oakland City:
Pros: Cooking the food and the guest who enjoy it
Cons: I don't like how the store is managed. There ppear to be no set rules that every employee must follow. There seem to be "exceptions " to some rules that others must follow. Communication is not good.
Unappreciated.
Restaurant Host/Hostess in Gun Barrel City:
Pros: I get a discount on my food, and it's great to interact with the regulars, and meet new people.
Cons: There is no communication towards my field, and we are still expected to know what's going on with everyone all the time. Management complains when we need change for the drawer, and servers complain when they get sat two or three times in a few minutes. Everyone is stressed, there are constantly people coming in. They don't get to be skipped when it's their turn. We can't always clean off the servers' tables, but they still complain to us when it isn't done as if it were our job. That is their job and the job of the S.A.s, not ours. When servers go on break, they are supposed to make sure everyone knows so they don't get seated. They only tell each other completely forgetting to tell the people who are actually in charge of seating them. That's us, the hosts. Servers are supposed to tell the hosts when they go to the bathroom so we can get drinks for anyone we seat with them. They don't tell us that either, however. My job becomes increasingly difficult as I continue my employment. I am expected to do more and more, without any more pay. The employee meal system is unfair. Cooks and dishwashers get a free meal everyday. Servers and host only get 50% off. Along with that, cooks could have literally anything they want, they just have to cook it. Everybody else has to order off of the menu. I see a cook come out with a delicious looking burger, but its not on the menu, so I can't have it.
Restaurant Host/Hostess in Honolulu:
Pros: The environment with the other workers are nice.
Cons: We do things out of what we are paid to do. Not enough workers
I feel confident while I run my operations on the floor, interacting with the guest gives me motivation to do well for them and make it a happier place for my guest.
Restaurant Manager in Red Deer:
Pros: Appreciation that we receive from the guest while we serve them and tries to give them a 5 star experience of dining even at the busiest of times.
Cons: Paid less as the amount of work we do.
It’s stressful cause we are short staffed only have 4 cooks.
Head Chef/Cook in Tumwater:
Pros: Cooking for people
Cons: The head manager he has no people skills doesn’t know how to talk to people
Fast paced, high stressed, rewarding.
General Manager, Restaurant in DeBary:
Pros: I know the job, so most functions come easily
Cons: high stress, physically intense
Fast paced, fun environment, stressful & rewarding, challenging.
General Manager, Restaurant in DeBary:
Pros: I am comfortable with my skill level to do the job well. I enjoy involvement in processes that affect change....
Cons: very high stress levels from leaders to achieve specific goals. low levels of staff on hand to do the job.
