Freedom in Exchange for Salary.
Software Engineer in Ithaca:
Pros: Can learn and implement just about any technology you want.
Cons: Lack of focus. Too many tasks that lead nowhere.
It is busy and ambiguous. Online education is a new world with little pre-determined management structure and constantly evolving.

Pros: The fact that we can personally dictate process and inform leadership of best practices and competitive advancements
Cons: The lack of management systems in my branch of the university and the lack of acknowledgement by leadership that evolution is necessary, we can't work in the same old ways anymore.
Beautiful place to work.
Administrative Assistant in Ithaca:
Pros: The people I immediately work with and the campus.
Cons: Feeling unappreciated and looked over by higher administration.
I want to work here for the remainder of my career.
Producer-Director, TV/Cable Broadcast in Ithaca:
Pros: Ability to self-direct and guide my work
Cons: Limited access to pay determination process
Lots of Smart People ... With All the Pros and Cons of It.
Software Engineer in Ithaca:
Pros: Wide range of technology
Cons: Pay isn't competitive
Software Engineer:
Cornell's like a lot of Higher Ed - you get extra freedom, great technology, and the chance to work alongside really smart, thoughtful people. The pay isn't as good, but the benefits almost make up for it. You are never bored there, and politics are almost always navigable if you are a hard worker. The prestige factor of working at an Ivy League school is a plus. And the ice cream is the best - sometimes you even get it free!
