California State University (CSU) Reviews

What is it like working at California State University (CSU)?

Making a Strong Impact on Lives, But the Work-Life Balance Is Not Good.
Associate Professor, Postsecondary / Higher Education in Los Angeles:
Pros: I enjoy teaching students new concepts/skills and preparing them for successful careers. The students are great to work with and the vast majority are motivated and not entitled. I like working with colleagues within my department and in other departments on campus.
Cons: Teaching a 4-4 while trying to maintain a scholarly agenda and doing administrative work. It doesn't allow for much of a work-life balance during the course of a semester. However, having the time off in the summer is fantastic and much more than I ever had in private industry. Of course, I'm not contracted or paid for the work I do in the summer.
Very stressful and fast pace.
Catering Supervisor in Los Angeles:
Pros: the people and food
Cons: not feeling appreciated and being talked down to
