Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) Reviews

What is it like working at Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC)?

Teaching for the Community.
Assistant Professor, Postsecondary / Higher Education in Shreveport:
Pros: Everyone is here to help educate and improve the community. There is a real atmosphere of support. Wherever people are, we try to help them.
Cons: The students have not always achieved high school equivalency and that makes it hard for them to succeed in college. I wish we had more support dealing with the large number of special needs students. The pay is also not where it needs to be to hire and keep good people. Subpar teachers are kept on and not always reprimanded. There are efforts to improve these things, but it's slow going.
Academic Dean:
I work for a wonderful school, one which allows continued creative input and classroom time in my field (theatre) while fulfilling administration responsibilities--All of which I am currently compensated for.
Professor, Postsecondary / Higher Education:
When I first started at BPCC it was a great school, felt like family. In the past 5 years that has changed. It is now just a place to work. For those that strive for the best their are no incentives (No releases for the extra projects you take on to enhance learning)
