Booz, Allen, and Hamilton Reviews
What is it like working at Booz, Allen, and Hamilton?
Its a great company but salary isn't always the best.
Senior Intelligence Analyst in Washington:
Pros: The Benifits, and making a different everyday in the intell community.
Cons: I feel I am being underpaid.
It's about experience, not pay.
Data Security Analyst in Arlington:
Pros: I love that I get to work with major government clients and feel like I'm contributing to something much bigger than myself or even my firm (BAH). I like that I get to use my degree in cybersecurity and develop my technical skills while also building on soft skills like communication and public speaking, which is something I have always feared/struggled with.
Cons: I am aware that BAH does not pay as competitively as some of the other (big 4) consulting firms. I wish that they did, and perhaps they'll suffer for it in the end. But I will say, in my opinion, working at BAH is more about gaining valuable experience. I think many people come without the intention of staying more than 3-5 years, getting it on their resume, and jumping ship.
Government Finance.
Financial Consultant in San Diego:
Pros: Laid Back and secure Job, low risk low reward
Cons: Little responsibility, repetitive mindless work, No real upper management support, under paid, not working with inspirational people
Little Direction in Data Engineering roles.
Data Engineer in Keene:
Pros: The hours are relaxed and limited
Cons: The pay is very sticky, you're fighting both the client and BAH for pay increases since clients don't want to pay more for you and BAH doesn't want to pay you more and uses the client to justify not increasing your salary. Over 3 years I've seen a total of 1.75% salary adjustment.
Progress-limiting Managers.
Business Consultant in Arlington:
Pros: Flexibility to work from home
Cons: I dont feel my management has my best interest at heart. They only focus on client delivery.
Tech Lead at Booz Allen Hamilton.
Lead Software Engineer in Summerville:
Pros: Working remotely, company resources, opportunity
Cons: “Punishment” for not getting trainings done on time - we’re not children. Restrictions on development machines can make it difficult to be productive.
Great People, Mediocre Pay.
Intelligence Analyst in Washington:
Pros: Interpersonal interaction and career development opportunities
Cons: Compensation and communication about compensation, contract security, and project impact are remarkably opaque
