Bloomberg LP Reviews

What is it like working at Bloomberg LP?

No one really understands what I do, but it pays a lot and management views me as irreplaceable.
Technical Product & Program Manager in Princeton:
Pros: A lot of influence and decision making authority as well as leeway to decide what work to prioritize.
Cons: Lack of clear path or advancement opportunities.
Great work environment.
Data Analyst in Skillman:
Pros: I find the work interesting, and the opportunities for hard workers is endless.
Cons: Lack of transparency regarding transportation.
Casual Work Environment with Good Pay but Limited Mobility.
Senior Business Analyst in Princeton:
Pros: Relaxed, casual work environment with understanding managers who allow you to prioritize your own work and pursue areas that interest you while affording you flexibility.
Cons: Despite pay being good, there are a lack of titles and formal career progression for individual contributors which makes it difficult to move within the company or effectively market yourself externally.
Good not great company.
Global Sourcing Manager in New York:
Pros: Ability to work with limited oversight and make great connections
Cons: Flat company and cult like culture
Implementation Manager in San Francisco:
The benefits are hard to beat especially for new parents and for those required to travel consistently. The pay is competitive and work life balance is a priority. The company invests a lot of time and money to train employees. Benefits aside, there are a lot of downsides. The company makes it difficult to pursue career opportunities outside of what they have planned for you. The Bloomberg analytics department is a great place to start a career if you want to learn more about finance and technology, but the next step after analytics is almost always core terminal sales. It is difficult to get promoted in any department, outside of engineering, without spending time in terminal sales. Senior management has little diversity, and it is not uncommon to see less qualified, male colleagues promoted over female colleagues. Bloomberg is a great company to gain experience, network with clients in the finance industry, and take advantage of generous benefits, but it is not a place to build a long term career.
Senior Software Engineer in New York:
Working here is going very well. The people are smart, professional, and communicative. I get the feeling that the company really cares about their employees with all the perks/benefits, flexible schedules, providing the tools and help needed to become productive quickly, all the networking and presentational events they host, and more. I can't wait to see what the next year will bring. I look forward to coming in to work every day!
Shangri-La.
Copy Editor in Trenton:
Pros: Matches my skills
Cons: Immediate supervisor
