BJ's Wholesale Club Reviews
What is it like working at BJ's Wholesale Club?
Gas station attendant.
Gas Station Attendant in Bangor:
Pros: The gas station is a great place to work. It is generally quiet and there is not much that needs to be done. It is mostly monitoring the pumps for spills, helping people who don't know how to scan their membership card and taking cash orders. That, combined with the daily safety inspections take up about 3% of the entire shift.
Cons: I am trained in many different positions including: Gas station, Tire bay, front end (cashier, self checkout, curbside/BOPIC), i can do store recovery, carts, and i even help in the deli sometimes. I have been with the company for just about a year and they pay me 25 cents more than when I started and they have me scheduled regularly in positions that get paid quite a bit more than I am. If you are looking for a job with a lot of verity, i would highly recommend Bj's, but if you are looking for a place that daily compensates you for your abilities, i would not recommend Bj's.
Not being paid fairly for work.
Deli Clerk in Basking Ridge:
Pros: Seeing happy regular customers
Cons: Not being paid fairly for what I do pressure/stress
Heading in the right direction, but needs improvement.
Shipping Packer in Akron:
Pros: My coworkers. Benefits package for full time is ok. Paid vacation and sick time.
Cons: Underpaid, underappreciated, and overworked for the compensation we receive compared to other companies. Expectations and standards are unrealistic and without proper support and resources in place to meet those expectations.
Work life balance and overall environment also needs improvement.
Busy and heavy in multitasking.
Retrieval Clerk in Ithaca:
Pros: The people I work with.
Cons: The company itself does not care about the employees the way they used to.
Stressful Environment.
Optician in Pasadena:
Pros: Pay and commissions are decent
Cons: Feeling unappreciated and last minute schedule changes
Meat Cutter, Retail in Sarasota:
A large portion of your time at work will be spent either cooking rotisserie chickens, cleaning the rotisserie chicken skewers or covering breaks in the deli. With the volume a slower location does, you will need to close 40-60% or 3-4 of your scheduled shifts due to the meat manager not closing. Health insurance offered is the best around, BJ's covers a huge portion of the cost compared to other grocery retailers. The pay rate for an experienced meat cutter is below the local market average.
Mindless operation.
Asset Protection Specialist in Webster:
Pros: In general the other non-management staff are very easy to work with, they try to work as a team, which is not easy.
Cons: There is absolutely no appreciation for effort expended! Hearing a thank you or a well done is unheard.
