Austin Museum of Art Reviews

What is it like working at Austin Museum of Art?

Great atmosphere and people, as long as they’re within your “social tier”
Gallery Assistant in Austin:
Pros: Great coworkers, plenty of leeway on use of audio entertainment, as well as the ability to appreciate and help others appreciate art.
Cons: The curation and directorate staff. Recently in an all staff, the Director themselves, Simone Wicha, claimed to hate elitism and despised curation and admin feeling “above” people like us, the gallery security, or the maintenance/tech crew. This is, not hyperbolic, the most hypocritical thing I’ve ever watched someone say to a crowd with a straight face. Not everyone is horrible, some of the curation staff are actually quite pleasant, but many of the heads of the directorate, curation, and education departments literally treat us like serfs.
