Business Development Coordinator in Washington:
Pros: you're exposed to lots of different areas of law
Cons: there is a lack of transparency regarding pay scales
Senior Legal Assistant:
Long hours and low pay/appreciation, BUT great clients/cases. Unfortunately, high employee performance is generally not rewarded and low/no performance is just accepted. If you do take advantage of all opportunities in this position, it can be an extremely valuable learning experience. Firm (on all levels) is still adapting post-merger, and the groups are (gradually) figuring out how to work together. Left for better work-life balance and improved office morale, but couldn’t have moved on without the countless lessons learned at the firm.
