Amtrak (The National Railroad Passenger Corporation) Reviews
What is it like working at Amtrak (The National Railroad Passenger Corporation)?
I'm not there, I'm at FedEx.
Customer Service Sales Associate in Philadelphia:
Cons: I liked it, it offered flexibility, fedex is a controlled environment with unusual pay scale
Locomotive Engineer in Los Angeles:
Pros: The autonomy, the pay, the benefits.
Cons: The dynamic between management and us. It’s very adversarial and we’re treated like, even though we do this every single day, they always know best for the operations. Mgt treats us like we should be grateful to even work there.
If Amtrak cared like 20% more about our time away from work, the productivity would go up by 100%. You’re kind of married to the job and to the railroad and everyone just uses the excuse, “well it’s the railroad” to explain why our time away with our families is so under-appreciated. 8 hours between shifts is NOT enough time to go home and be rested for the next shift safely.
