American Airlines Reviews

What is it like working at American Airlines?

Challenging, yet restrictive.
First-Line Supervisor / Manager of Production and Operating Workers in Charlotte:
Pros: The work, employees and making a difference
Cons: Restriction to problem solving and making progress
Maintenance Planner:
This is the NEW AA - run by USAIR and an exhalted OLD HR Dept that seeks no more than the money and power they can stuff in their pockets - as a person- you will not exist to THEM. Go anywhere, be anything but do not go here, in months or weeks they will bankrupt you, and customers.
Bureaucracy.
Senior Data Analyst in Fort Worth:
Pros: free travel, independence, time at career
Cons: lack of focus on the business, politics, childishness
Senior Systems Engineer:
American Airlines has become a “sweat shop”. My first three years there was great. I rarely worked after hours and the stress was minimal as long as work was completed on time. Not sure why it changed, but about a year ago our team started getting focus for the wrong reasons. Since then a lot of unruly demands started coming from management. I was impacted by a layoff in August. I have no ill will towards the company. However, I have to say they do not pay market for my skillset or experience. The benefits are not that great either. Mediocre at best. I would be hesitant to work for this company if I were someone looking at a position. There are better companies I feel that treat employees right than American Airlines.
Aviation.
Revenue Analyst in Fort Worth:

Cons: Change is slow
Great.
Flight Attendant in Nashville:

Learned a lot and gained experience.
Customer Service Agent:
Pros: Working with great agents. The flexibility of working or taking time off. Enjoying meeting new people.
Cons: Getting rifted out of my office when 9/11 happen. Took away 1week vacation 1week of sick time 5days of holiday pay and never had a pay increase for 10years. Had too many layout.
