Dept. of Corrections Reviews

What is it like working at Dept. of Corrections?

I supervise over 40 inmates in the Industries Building at my prision.
Senior Corrections Officer in Charleston:
Pros: The pay.
Cons: Working forced overtime every day of the week some 17 hour days , having to sleep in my car because of the late nights because the drive home is over an hour away. I usually only get to see my wife when i get home if i only have to work a 12 hour shift. Not getting to see my wife if i have to work a 17 hour day.
Cannot comment.
Senior Corrections Officer in Wellington:
Pros: Quick response in risky situations. Set guidelines, legislation, procedures and policy to assist in undertaking my role effectively.
Cons: Politics
Depends on management in charge.

Pros: It was rewarding and I learn a lot about human beings.
Cons: Golden handcuffs and unfair promotion process.
