Reed Elsevier Reviews

What is it like working at Reed Elsevier?

Meaningful work and lots of investment in my growth.
Software Engineer in Charleston:
Pros: Encouraged to gain more skills and learning, even on paid time
Cons: I wish there was team specific training
One of the best places to work.
Risk Management Analyst in Philadelphia:
Pros: I have the freedom to develop my own strategies and solutions to problems I might face. I'm also given a lot of responsibility and trust from my direct manager.
Cons: I'm the only one in my position, so it can get a bit lonely!
Stressful, but rewarding work.
Information Security Analyst in Philadelphia:
Pros: I have the opportunity to continue to build the Security Risk Management program here at Elsevier. I can use the skills and training I acquired in my degree at Penn State to help protect our technology assets, strengthen risk awareness, and build relationships with other business units.
Cons: I'm the only Risk Analyst, so there's a lot of responsibility on my shoulders. Plus, we've had higher-than-average turnover in Technology, so a lot of institutional knowledge has left the building.
Great company the pay sucks.
Product Marketing Manager in Ballwin:
Pros: I love the fact that we educate the people that take care of us.
Cons: We are paid far less than our competitors and everyone knows it.
You are given autonomy to some extent. There are certain guard rails that you need to follow e.g., choice of programming language for example, but solution wise, you are pretty much given a free reign, subject to approval from tech leadership.
Lead Software Engineer in Philadelphia:
Pros: Work-life balance.
Cons: Low pay, siloed organization. Too many layers and bureaucracy.
Great place to work.
Senior Software Engineer in Amsterdam:
Pros: Friendly and helpful colleagues, great salaries, good opportunities, fun and diverse environment
Cons: The commute:(
Nice people, too many meetings, not enough action.
Marketing Manager in Amsterdam:
Pros: The people (fellow employees)
Cons: Lack of training, too many meetings and not enough execution
