Sterling Reviews
What is it like working at Sterling?
Warehouse Manager in Cranston:
Never a dull moment. We're booking 3 months out. We need bodies in all areas of the household division. Haulers, drivers, helpers packers and warehouse laborers. The compensation is on par with the industry. Contractors make 65%-70%. Helpers $150-200 plus tips.
Overworked & underpaid.
Warehouse Manager in Cranston:
Pros: Having to be a jack of all trades here has definitely helped me in the long run.
Cons: Long hours, not enough help & turnover at the management level.
Great place to work love it but the management is a joke and equipment is half fixed and never fixed properly or safely.
Loading Machine Operator, Underground Mining in Middletown:
Pros: Being underground operating equipment tonthe best of my skill in peace without being bothered
Cons: lack of repairing equipment lack of maintenance to equipment everything is rigged to work and only holds up for so long til it breaks more beyond the repair just never ending people arent properly trained to run equipment that i operate
Coworkers.
Accounting Assistant in Watsonville:
Pros: Processing order for gift shop
Cons: A co worker who does somewhat what I do but because he has a degree gets paid more
Busy.
Human Resources (HR) Generalist in Opelousas:
Pros: The people around me make it easy to come to work. I always have a guideline on what is expected of me.
Cons: I feel as though the owner does not know what we do to understand our compensation philosophy.
Detective or Criminal Investigator:
Raises do happen every year, but inevitably something happens where the company didn't make enough money, "so we can't give you as much as we'd like and oh your bonus is smaller too." MANY employees are making much less than they should with seniority, and Sterling even had the gall to give "promotions" that offered no extra money, just the promise of "maybe" a bigger bonus next year, which with what we've been told about the company finances will NOT happen. This job is full of the worst kind of stress, with a poisonous atmosphere that dampens and eventually destroys enthusiasm and the desire to work well. Most of the work, anyway, is farmed out to people in Mumbai who have NO qualifications or competence. Everything is catered to them.
Avoid this place. If you're desperate for a job, consider working here only long enough until you find something better (which won't be hard). The positive, enthusiastic workplace with a focus on quality and ability is LONG GONE.
