Starbucks Corporation Reviews

What is it like working at Starbucks Corporation?

It's amazing.
Retail Store Manager in Montgomery:
Pros: I'm happy every day
Cons: The stressful times but it's not the company's fault
Good job- subpar management.
Barista in Draper:
Pros: It is a fun and creative place, fast moving with lots of interesting and diverse and fun employees. A good job all together, with loads of great benefits that one can use if they are 18 or older, which can include stock grants and up to a 5% 401K contribution match.
Cons: My manager is not good at communicating fairly to all of his employees and doesn't take time to actively know his employees who work opposite shifts with him. This can cause problems. Pay isn't 100% transparent, and for a place that says "competitive pay" they don't really give out raises or bonuses.
Fun Job!
Barista in Walnut Creek:
Pros: The People Are Nice
Cons: It’s Really Busy And Can Be Stressful .
Barista:
I've worked for Starbucks long enough to have seen the difference between Howard Schultz and his successor. Unfortunately, workers are less "partners" and more "numbers", now, with daily emphasis on sales and speed over customer connections and relations. Our overall pay package is still pretty reasonable, but corporate has yet to pay a living wage (which, I believe, is more important than offering online education and stock options. The raises are not merit based, and are pitiful. A new barista right now makes the same as a seasoned barista of four years.) Additionally, each week sees a reduction in hours with no real answers to why (even when the numbers are there to support them, and the baristas are willing to work.) Finally, in the case of our store, upper management is not held accountable for their shortcomings, and lower management does not hold baristas accountable for multiple infractions. Overall, it's a job like any other, but it has lost most of the original charm that once made me excited to come to work everyday. In the end, my work ethic, favorite customers, and coworkers I care about are the only things keeping me here.
Retail Store Manager:
The benefits Starbucks offeres are great. It’s unfortunate they pay their internally promoted partners significantly less and the stress can be overwhelming. I love that I am abele to develop partners and give them the opportunity to achieve their personal goal.
Barista:
Flexible hours, management always willing to work with you and your needs, plenty of opportunities to get promoted, consistently busy, medical benefits are unmatched for part time, perks outside work (such as movie tickets, vacation discounts, gym membership discounts, etc)
Barista:
Customer service takes a toll, but perks are amazing, benefits are unmatched, culture is great, people are awesome, organization is thoughtful. Really a fun job, unfortunately the pay does not match the hard work. Not a career, but a good job.
