Capital One Financial Corp Reviews

What is it like working at Capital One Financial Corp?

Great WLB and Fun Work.
Senior Software Engineer in Chicago:
Pros: I like the work at capital One and also like the flexible policies such as work from home. And the pay is above average.
Great Place for continuous improvement and personal development.
Senior Customer Service Representative (CSR) in Muntinlupa:
Pros: The amenties, the people, tge culture and the Worksite
Cons: Perks
Software Engineer in Richmond:
Great co-workers and diversity of projects to work on. Heavy emphasis on self development and keeping up to date with current trends in industry. Corporate level and down emphasis on team development and encouragement of giving back to community through various matching opportunities.
They're awesome in people management.
Customer Service Representative (CSR) in Muntinlupa City:
Pros: the fact that they make changes based on they're employees' feedback
Cons: unable to work from home considering the Pandemic
Software Engineer:
The culture is based around dog eat dog. People will get rewarded for being deferential to the managers and upper management above them and not for thinking for themselves. In fact it is highly discouraged to be innovative and thinking outside the box as you will likely clash with someone more important than you's opinion and that will put you on their bad side and they'll give you a bad review in the YE review stack ranking process. Work is heavily compartmentalized along functional silos and you are not allowed to have insight into each silos work, else you'll get on someone's bad side and they will give you a bad review in YE calibrations. Higher ups speak a lot about engineering excellence and DevOps ideals, but you are not allowed to do that, only "DevOps" is flowed top to bottom, it is not self-organizing. If you want to work in a highly bureaucratic environment, work here. Benefits are competitive, and good, though and that's why I gave two stars instead of 1.
Called a Scrum Master but they really want a project delivery lead.
Certified Scrummaster (CSM) in Richmond:
Pros: The amenities
Cons: The performance management process forces people to make decisions based upon fear and how they are publicly seen among their peers rather than on what is the most valuable decision for the customer. The status quo is rewarded and trust is not seen unless one goes along with everyone else. No real room to question the process.
Great company, relaxed atmosphere, Tyson's Virginia is a Soulless Hellhole.
Associate Software Engineer in McLean:
Pros: Love the freedom, pay, and work life balance. My manager is great and everyone I've met at the company is competent and friendly.
Cons: The location is terrible, Tyson's is a soulless corporate hellhole with no redeeming qualities and they recently implemented unassigned seating which is affecting how I work. Coupled with the lack of work from home makes for a relatively hard work environment for me.
