What is it like working at Self-Employed?

Before being your own boss weigh the pros and cons.
Personal / Home Care Aide:
Pros: I am responsible for me.
Cons: Taxes.
Web Development.
Web Designer:
Pros: Consult with customers, build and launch websites.
Cons: Inconsistency.
Good.
Maid or Housekeeping Cleaner:
Pros: I can work my own hours and come and go as needed.
Cons: No respect when you get it clean - money.
Tutor:
Pros: I enjoy working one on one with students so I can focus on exactly what they need to help them gain skills.
Cons: It is difficult to be organized when meeting students in the library and in their homes.
I like to help people; I feel confident in doing tax return.
Bookkeeper:
Pros: Being my own boss and be able to make decisions.
Cons: Pay too much expenses.
Psychotherapy Self Employment.
Psychotherapist:
Pros: Being my own boss. Determining my own schedule and workload. My work is very rewarding and is helpful to individuals and families.
Cons: What I can earn per hour and per year is limited to the number of hours I personally can work in a week and what insurance companies and/or individuals will pay per hour. I have no additional benefits or paid time off. I often feel isolated given that I do not have colleagues.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker ~ Private Practice.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW):
Pros: I make my own schedule, I work for myself. Work 4 days per week at a high hourly rate. I am paid by Insurance companies and employee assistance programs and do contract work. Freedom to make my own schedule and choose when to work and what hours to work.
Cons: Overhead ~ Pay monthly rent for my office. No benefits: no retirement or medical insurance. Pay high monthly fee and high deductible for medical Insurance. Pay for Liability Insurance. Responsible for high risk clients ~ if homicide or suicide, lawsuits come. Any Board complaint is investigated, sometimes taking one year to resolve.
