Red Hat, Inc. Reviews

What is it like working at Red Hat, Inc.?

Creative Chaos.
Software Engineering Manager in Durham:
Pros: Strong emphasis on cross team and organization collaboration
Cons: If you get hired in at a lower range of pay band, it can take a very long time to remediate.
Opportunities Abound.
Software Architect in Jeffersonville:
Pros: I am allowed to explore ways to help my employer and our customers in new and innovative ways.
Cons: It's sometimes difficult to let work go at the end of the day because I am son engaged and interested in my work.
Principal Software Engineer in Raleigh:
Great company overall. They really care about the employees. Lots of room to grow (personally and professionally). Big enough for great benefits, pay, opportunities. But not so big that it's super bureaucratic or stuffy. The IBM acquisition hasn't seemed to hurt culture any. If anything, we are influencing IBM much more than they are influencing us.
Senior Software Engineer in Golden:
I've been in multiple organizations within Red Hat, and the one I'm in now is by far the worst. The paths for promotion are very poorly designated or missing entirely. Managers do not communicate with one another and it seems to start at the very top. They don't manage their projects very well and getting simple one-on-ones are very difficult. This seems to have gotten worse since the IBM acquisition.
Mitigating Risk with Tact and Professionalism.
Employee Relations Specialist in Raleigh:
Pros: Helping people navigate tough situations
Cons: Compensation
An Impressive Adventure.
Sr. Software Engineer / Developer / Programmer in Jeffersonville:
Pros: The ability to create new solutions, beyond just technology, to help our customers/partners/colleagues thrive and evolve.
Cons: The lack good ways to dissiminate shared learning throughout the company.
Rewarding and challenging.
Systems Analyst in Raleigh:
Pros: They allow me to learn
Cons: Some of my work still includes work I've been doing for 4 years; I want to delegate this work.
