It's more work than just customer interaction.
Teller:
Pros: The people.
Cons: Tellers get paid the least but do a lot of work.

Pros: The customers are very polite, the team I work with are very knowledgable.
Cons: The people at my job lives are very destructive and get the best of them and sometimes I have to work harder.

Pros: Flexibility and the people.
Cons: Pay sucks, short handed.

Teller:
Pros: Occasionally I get to help someone solve a legitimate problem. Otherwise, I like the puzzle-like nature of setting up electronic transfers, etc.
Cons: Cashing checks for angry people.

Pros: Meeting and interacting with people from all walks of life.
Cons: The incentive program is terrible. Hourly wage is low.

Nothing was explained up front
Teller:
Ask questions before you take on a new teller job. Many banks want to sell new products to clients and expect their employees to be very proactive and follow their numbers closely. Not everyone is cut out for this. It is extremely stressful to have it in your mandate that you have to hit certain goals regarding selling products to clients.
