My Adventure In Sales.
Technical Sales Engineer:
Pros: I like the flexibility in my work hours. I am free to make my own decisions regarding my territory and how best to manage accounts. I have been given my own company car, an expense account that covers gas, lunch with clients, and all travel related expenses. Additionally, my at-home internet is covered by my company, as is a cell phone. Overall, I have found a low stress, fun job that utilizes my love of chemistry.
Cons: Personally, I am not an extroverted person. This makes cold calling and talking to people a bit of a chore.

B2B Sales Face To Face, Telephone And Email. New/Existing.
Technical Sales Engineer:
Pros: Nice to travel to different locations, see new places and people. Learn and gain knowledge in many areas. Can start later or finish earlier sometimes. Flexible time as the rotation is designed by me. Company phone which I can use myself, car for work and personal, laptop which I can use for personal now and expense account meaning I'm not out of pocket money. Change of scenery regularly, not the same view each day.
Cons: Can be a lot of miles to cover, regularly 1000 per week. This can lead to time away from home, some very early starts and late finishes. Also can spend 8 hours a day on my own in the car. Sometimes need to travel overseas, meaning loss of spare time and unable to enjoy my evenings as desired. Expectation to visit many people in a very wide area, not always realistic. Head office is located abroad, this means different understandings and demands. Sometimes things are lost in translation.

For a career in selling.
Technical Sales Engineer:
Once you find a successful, profitable way to sell, and a good product, don't let anyone or anything change it, adapt your selling technique to your advancing requirements. You will see many salespeople around you fail!
