Technical Sales Engineer:
Pros: I am constantly building on my technical knowledge and learning new technologies. I'm able to apply my IT knowledge to product presentations and demos for customers, and it is nice to be able to see personal impact through quantified results (i.e. Quarterly sales figures).
Cons: Larger corporations often have a need to run detailed reports, and having to constantly keep track of nearly every little deal-related task I'm involved takes too much time away from my core job responsibilities. It can also sometimes be frustrating working with sales people who have limited knowledge of the complexities of enterprise software and IT in general, but then again it's an inherent part of the job to bridge that communication gap.
