What is it like working as a Systems Administrator?

The Domino Effect.
Systems Administrator in Soufrière:
Pros: The Domino Effect. Soufriere is a remote town, so if you're a "techy" like me, please walk with an extra bag to ensure you have all necessary gadgets at your disposal. While Soufriere is beautiful, having to order most of the resources you need to successfully execute mission-critical objectives and have them shipped to a remote location of the island has its challenges. Project Management goes into a large majority of what you do when working at the Resort, regardless of your field. A clear roadmap is necessary and yet at the same time one must be able to be flexible to support the team and Guests. You must be agile and resilient. There is also constant growth at Sugar Beach, and that keeps me interested, it keeps me on my feet. Essentially, it is the domino effect, because if you fail to plan, you’ve essentially planned to fail. Over the years, we’ve won numerous awards and without a doubt technology played a part in it. When there’s no technology, it takes teamwork, and my team has that in abundance. My legacy will be shown in the people I work with and how I’ve helped them grow. It will always be about people, because technology as essential as it is, quickly becomes outdated.
Cons: There isn’t much that irks me from working in Soufriere. There are challenges, but that comes with any location. You need to understand that each location like any company, has its own strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. While Soufriere offers tranquility, it is due to this same tranquility that you need to ensure you’ve meticulously planned your operation for the threats. The cost of doing business in Soufriere can sometimes be expensive, but at the same time, you’re able to capitalize on this very expense to your benefit if you’ve planned accordingly.

Jack of all trades master of none, wearer of many hats.
Systems Administrator in Springfield:
Pros: Lots of opportunity to learn and flexibility is nice. Other people are very friendly.
Cons: Things move at a snails pace if anything structural needs to get changed. Each employee wears too many hats and therefore nothing ever gets done the right way, it just gets done the necessary way.

Hard work but rewarding.

Compensation is a complete joke.
Systems Administrator in Melbourne:
Pros: I have the opportunity to form my own future at L3Harris
Cons: Compensation is an absolute joke. Highly valued employees with massive responsibilities and qualifications are most often not paid as well as new employees that come to the company with less qualifications and responsibilities.
