One Job but Many Hats.
Systems Administrator:
Run a helpdesk for support calls via email and phone, but I also maintain several windows servers and cisco network devices. I have to manually install windows security updates as well as other updates for other products such as Adobe flash player, Adobe reader, and orcacle Java. Perform STIG configuration changes on windows servers and cisco devices to stay complient with company DoD policy. Use VISIO to design and deploy new network configurations. Research new equipment to replace old equipment or to expand on current network requirements.

Seek consul from current Systems Administrators, know the ins-and-outs of the day-to-day roles and responsibilities. Be customer focused, patient, don't be a know-it-all, ask for guidance (tips-n-tricks). Somewhere, someone has already reported an issue, whether it be software or hardware related, so the Internet is a good tool to research fix-actions.
