Ask the right questions before you start a job.
Sales and Marketing Manager:
This job has become stressful in the financial sense, as all expenses related to work-travel must be paid upfront by the employee and later reimbursed by the Company. This is a terrible system if the Company does not refund the expenses in a timely manner, generating a deficit in your personal budget and/or generating a larger debt to your credit card accounts. Also be wise to ask if the Company has a structure for salary raises and what is the criteria to reach your goal? Aeromexico does not offer a salary increase, at least for their employees in the United States.

Prepare your new hires.
Sales and Marketing Manager:
With b2b or b2c campaigns the biggest problem that causes turnover is the lack of preparation that managers give their sales reps. A plane taking off needs to be going full throttle and there will some bumps along the way. If you let off the gas too early or never hit full throttle you will never get off the runway. The expectation needs to be that in the first 3 weeks the only goal is to generate meaningful conversation. Conversion will happen along the way but you need to fill your funnel and have a robust pipeline before hard work becomes smart work. The expectation is the first three weeks you will hate the job at points during the day, but once you get off the ground and above the clouds the sky is clear and the sun is bright.
