Retail Store Manager Reviews
What is it like working as a Retail Store Manager?
October 2015
It is a collaborative fast paced hard working enviroment.
Retail Store Manager:
Pros: Your the store owner. You develop processes and procedures for your store where there are areas lacking them. An enviroment where you can learn and not be afraid to fail.
Cons: The target market for this retailer is hard on the presentation of the stores. The return policy is rigid and forces customers to try things on which creates a tremendous amount of merchandise to be returned to the floor during the day.
October 2015
Fast paced environment.
Retail Store Manager:
Pros: It's a field I enjoy. Lots of Interaction with people with ideas.
Cons: High turn over rate. Hard to find people who like working in this field.
October 2015
Flexible but stressful with little room to move.
Retail Store Manager:
Pros: Overall the environment is good - I am not micromanaged by the GM and am able to arrange my store how I see fit (including visual displays) and retail has always been a field I enjoy. And that is it. That's literally the only good thing.
Cons: Shoddy equipment (ie; ancient register, broken fax, temperamental phone, no hot water, constantly shorting overhead lights), terrible on-site maintenance staff, ridiculously tight budgets, difficulty coordinating pick-ups from our factory/kitchen store, the inability to choose which suppliers we go through, being constantly understaffed (business owner will not allow hiring of more assistants), dealing with staff who can't think for themselves or take initiative (and the ones who do take initiative do so in ways that cause horrible messes that I need to untangle)... Also customers. Angry customers who don't understand that international orders sometimes take time.
September 2015
Ordering keeping store clean and full.
Retail Store Manager:
Pros: We are a union job so befits are really good.
Cons: They want to only give a dime raise a year for 5 years.
September 2015
Retail Store Manager:
Pros: I enjoy interacting with my subordinates, and they're all hard-working, enjoyable people. I like helping people improve their health, and communications and ordering are probably what I do best. When I'm directing, things go smoothly.
Cons: L feel like it's a dead end job, no room for advancement, and I'm not appreciated for the many hats I wear, and how I excel at everything I do. Also, I make a measly hourly rate, and have no health benefits, no 401k plan, no gym membership, no free coffee, no "benefits" at all.
September 2015
Job Review.
Retail Store Manager:
Pros: I like all aspects of being Store Manager.
Cons: The workload that is added with no extra hours to complete which in turn increases the stress level.
August 2015
Anoying but exciting.
Retail Store Manager:
Pros: Got a chance to manage different type of nationalities, be able to lead and train them not only to be a good sales staff but also help them to grow and also get a chance to be promoted to a higher position.
Cons: The presure and the politics that I am facing with the senior people in the company.
