Registered Nurse (RN) Reviews
What is it like working as a Registered Nurse (RN)?
December 2014
Registered Nurse (RN):
Pros: I like making a positive difference in my patient's quality of life.
Cons: There is so much to do and not enough time to do it. Massive amounts of paperwork means less time spent on patient interaction. Also, nurses have no protection against the disgruntled patient who is unhappy being in longterm care and resorts to false allegations as a tactic to being in some form of control. Or the patient who feels making allegations is an easy way to make some money.

Ain't what it used to be...
Registered Nurse (RN):
Pros: Coming back to familiar faces was a refreshing treat after 5 years in Los Angeles. The staff on my floor does appear to really try to help each other out. There are some nice resources still available (but I hear they are in danger of being downsized) like the PICC nursing team and pain management team, but I was disappointed they scrapped their patient advocate resource team. Decent tuition reimbursement program, I believe around $5200 a years (the same it was 5 years ago, by the way)
Cons: Chronically understaffed unlicensed and licensed staffing, poor, expensive options for health insurance that make it nearly impossible to accept, as if they are trying to force their own employees into the exchange. Since I have started back, all I have heard is a concern they are going to lose their Magnet designation due to increased falls, Foley infections, and decreased nursing staff satisfaction. The attitude of the staff is one of feeling not respected, despondent, and fed up. I've lived in this neighborhood all my life, and was really looking forward to continuing my career in my neighborhood, but I am already looking elsewhere for my next job. I have been there since July and the change is palpable for sure.

Utilization of life experience in providing PM/EMR archive.
Registered Nurse (RN):
Plan for the future, all healthcare information must be preserved in a manner that it can be retrieved without difficulty thereby making future encounters with the patient more effective, more efficient and less costly.
November 2014
New policies and lack of policies.
Registered Nurse (RN):
Concentrate on own work. Teamwork. Anticipate the needs of your provider and patient.
November 2014
Registered Nurse (RN):
Pros: My patients and my co-workers.
Cons: Staffing shortages, lack of equipment and supplies, pay.
November 2014
The Job Has Many Challenges But Very Rewarding.
Registered Nurse (RN):
Pros: Flexible, exposed to works in different settings like school, community,
Streets/shelter (out of the colds program).
Lots of after hour support.
Cons: No security, when client was in the hospital.
That's why I like to work in the company, I've been loyal for 11 years.
