Know exactly who your working with!
Outside Sales Representative:
I sold my business and came to work for the same company. 6 months into it majority owner decides to sell out to old business partner who is an alcoholic!!!
To say difficult is not the word... Know who getting involved with the extent of who they are as a company and their goals direction and purpose. Had I Realized the potential and weighed it out. I very possibly would have sold to another company. I took the majority owner at his word and it changed...they honored our original agreement but dealing with the other owner was difficult at best not to mention how much money and customers were lost due to the miss management of the business.
All this done during the busiest time of the year....oh and working with a manager who wasn't qualified to be in the role!... Who had 3 months expirience and I had a decade.... Throughly check out and know who and what your getting into not just "money"...cause in the end tho we need money to live on ...money isn't everything!!

Get It in writting.
Outside Sales Representative:
When I was hired to work at GKLS, it was with the understanding that I produce sales and follow through with the work. However, the work cannot be adequately without constant supervision. When the company hires individuals, they tell me they hired them for me because the guy knows what to do. They set the salary scale without me being able to test drive him in his knowledge and decision making. Everyone of their hires bombs. I have to train all 6 of my daily crew members to perform each and every task at every job site, so they can fill in the gaps, as they'll know what has to be done. I 'd rather bring them up within the company and train as I go through the season. But they continue to throw at me these high paid guys who do not know what to do.
