Marketing & Business Development Manager Reviews
What is it like working as a Marketing & Business Development Manager?
November 2017
Things I wish I knew.
Marketing & Business Development Manager in Cape Town:
I have to have my finger on many pulses, be ready to pounce on fund raising opportunities, be prepared to sacrifice weekends, work long hours and get very little reward. As a manager I find myself fulfilling many duties which are not necessarily within my job description but more required of me as a leader.
Essentially, I wish I knew that I would need to be a superhero with endless energy and tough as nails so that nothing I was exposed to would effect me.
This job is extremely stressful but it will make you famous - I spend more time on radio and TV than behind my desk. It is also really fulfilling but burnout is a major risk.

Cons: Developing needs a lot of time and enegry, but because it is happening mostly over a computer it is downgraded and it doesn't pay much. At least in my current company.
Digital marketing is a critical factor in any company, big or small, although not many employers willig to pay more attention to social media and digital markets.
