Legal Assistant Reviews
What is it like working as a Legal Assistant?
January 2014
Legal Assistant:
Work hard and be conscientious, never say "that's not part of my job description".
Going over and above what is expected of you - offer to assist others when you're not busy.
Continually learn new programs, software, etc.

Not Worth It.
Legal Assistant:
Pros: I enjoy most of the work. After 28 years in the Canadian Forces it is quite different from what I am used to and, for the most part, fairly interesting.
Cons: I have never worked so hard for so little in my entire life. We are expected to work overtime without being compensated and we are not given credit for the hard work that is done. The pay is minuscule compared to what is expected and the general work atmosphere is almost oppressive.

Lawyers
Legal Assistant:
Pros: The lawyer I work for is very nice and helps with anything you need help with. He always pays for any over time hours you would like to work.
Cons: It's stressful sometimes as in Real Estate Law there are deadlines for purchase/sale transactions and also lawyers need their work done a.s.a.p.

Work Flexibility

Pros: You can work overtime as much as you want/need to.
