Film / Video Editor Reviews

What is it like working as a Film / Video Editor?

December 2018
Poor.
Film / Video Editor in Whangarei:
Pros: Close to family, small community
Cons: There's only one other video production company in Whangarei, other jobs in my line of work is outside of town

Film / Video Editor:
The organization I work for is great. SU, not so. They do not pay well for digital media individuals that work in video, graphic design, audio and photography as well as dealing with people's technology. They also constantly change insurance providers making it expensive, not to mention, yearly raises are equal across the board not merit based. You get between a 0.25% - 2% yearly raise, this does not cover the increased cost of living or inflation and if you want to come to work, you have to pay to park. So basically, you are paying SU to work for them to a degree. That raise will barely cover your yearly garage parking fee. Good luck.

Langehorne work life in video production.
Film / Video Editor in Langhorne:
Pros: Its away from the city so no hassle with traffic.
Cons: The work available is all corporate work. Rarely does anything with a great narrative come through.
November 2018
A full-time video editor in Cluj-Napoca.
Film / Video Editor in Cluj-Napoca:
Pros: Cluj-Napoca provides opportunities, but not as many when it comes to video and film making. Events that take place in this city usually need a video done (aftermovies), or companies have to get exposure through a platform with a video (corporate videos), and not to forget the weddings. But as for filmmaking, opportunities are few in years. People you can work with are usually highly cooperative, making the best out of what I like working in Cluj-Napoca.
Cons: Living in this city in your 20's is one of the most expensive situation you can find yourself in in this country. Renting an apartment costs you half a salary in average conditions. Giving that you have to eat, pay bills, go out - it is inevitable to get stuck at zero economically.

A great place to succeed.
Film / Video Editor in Montréal:
Pros: Multiculturalism
Cons: Excessive taxes and poor maintenance on infrastructure
May 2018
Stressingly Wonderful...
Film / Video Editor in Pahrump:
Pros: It's rewarding and thrill to work in news and experience things that the general public don't. I get to edit stories that are exciting and intriguing.
Cons: It's stressful. A lot of responsibility rides on my shoulders alone and if I make a mistake, it's out there for the public to see and if I mess up badly enough, the news doesn't air. It's also difficult to have to edit stories of death and families torn apart and such, but that comes with the job.
March 2018
Its a really good experience till they accept your ideas.
Film / Video Editor in Mumbai:
Pros: They accept my ideas. Ask me for my own deadline. Friendly environment.
Cons: My work is not given an importance. Less payment. Sometimes I have to work on things that I don't want to. Less and underrated equipment's.
