What is it like working as a Film / Video Editor?

March 2014
All That Glitters Is Not Gold.
Film / Video Editor:
The sparkling and flashy illusion people may have of a career in television defers greatly from the gritty, seedy and often times unscrupulous lifestyle that the world of television offers. There is a fine line between public information and entertainment information. I find these days those lines are getting blurred more and more often. Trampling private citizens privacy and rights at times for no better reason than it provides entertainment to the viewer at home. It is our job in the industry to determine what is need to know information for the public and what is nothing more than tabloid fodder that does nothing to help anyone but boost our companies ratings. Polluting John Q public's minds, television sets, and twitter feeds, with useless heresay and propaganda. As long as we remember to use the term "allegedly", we can accuse just about anyone for anything, ruining reputations and lives. Only for us to forget tomorrow what we did today, but the lives we've affected forever changed.
