What is it like working as a Director of Operations?

April 2019
Developing Area - Still needs work.
Director of Operations in Long Island City:
Pros: It's an interesting hodgepodge of new buildings going up and new businesses.
Cons: The G train and it's many issues that affect my commute. LIC does not seem to know its identity yet.

High wire balancing act.
Director of Operations in Las Vegas:
Pros: I've been afforded great opportunities to develop leadership skills and further my ability to be a fair, balanced and organized leader who can really help my people develop and achieve personal goals for their careers. Freeman is quite good with bringing people into the organization, developing their skills and affording them a real career with opportunity for advancement when company sales growth allows it.
Cons: The politics. The culture here is great in that we try very much to work as a "family". However, like anywhere else, there are folks in the family who have significant tenure, contribute very little other than negatives, and are seemingly held to no standards, while others who are doing all the heavy lifting are rewarded with only more work and more difficult financial and operational goals to achieve year over year.
