March 2020
Good Short Term Job.
Delivery Driver in Wichita Falls:
Pros: The work environment is pleasant, not stressful.
Cons: Pay could slightly be better, and the benefits options are not there. Good for retired people with benefits. younger people not much a future here.
February 2020
Micromanagement and corporate knee-jerks.
Delivery Driver in La Grange:
Pros: The crew in my store are mostly quality people with solid understanding and problem solving skills.
I really do enjoy chasing down mechanical issues and solving them. I like being able to help people fix or maintain a significant aspect of their lives. In that, the job does have some measure of impact.
Cons: My work hours and experience depend on stock price. When stocks take a hit for ANY reason (e.g., coronavirus, corporate shortsightedness, widespread IT and hardware issues, etc.), hours are cut and the managerial nagging intensifies to pester our customers about products they often don't want or can't afford.
Also: micromanagement. If you want to take advantage of my skills, you must give me the latitude to use them. By attempting to control our behavior right down to a specific greeting script and scripted checkout flowchart, the powers that be seem to be forgetting that if people wanted to get impersonal interaction with popup ads, they would have just ordered online for a cheaper price. Give me parameters for an outcome; not a hollow sales dogma and restrictive policies.
