Cons: Two many engineers per capita. Not an enjoyable place to live.

Detroit is Going Downhill.
Controls Engineer in Detroit:
Pros: Absolutely nothing, Detroit is on a downhill slope.
Cons: Unions have infected and destroyed the manufacturing and corrupt politicians have drained everything else. Streets are terrible, insurance is sky high, housing prices are on the rise, and the citizens are discourteous and rude.

Pros: It’s where I grew up and it has everything I could need but without the big city feel.
Cons: High property values compared to surrounding areas.

Never a dull moment.
Controls Engineer in Los Alamos:
Pros: I love the opportunity to work on a wide variety of systems. They range from utility systems like steam plants and water treatment to complex R&D systems for nuclear material.
Cons: The bureaucratic efforts required to perform my job as a first line manager are rather unpleasant and tedious at times. I doubt that it is much different from other companies. As an engineer, that is never going to be my favorite part of my job.
