Praxair, Inc. Reviews

What is it like working at Praxair, Inc.?

Customer Service.
Senior Customer Service Representative (CSR) in Charlotte:
Pros: The pay, vacation time & benefits are good. The culture is safety first, which shows that they care about their employees. I like that they encourage volunteering & community engagement activities.
Cons: They tend to work lean which may save money, but it forces employees to work more overtime. Working too lean results in employee burn out & not meeting customer expectations.
Working For Praxair.
Mechanical Engineer in Indianapolis:
Pros: I like that we never know what is next, always changing.
Cons: HR has done a horrible job keeping talent.
Stressful environment.
Production Manager, Manufacturing in Los Angeles:
Pros: Some flexibility, some of my coworkers are pleasant to work with
Cons: Stress level is high, lack of training, lack of opportunities, lack of communication
Bright Future In A High Performing Chemical Company.
Mechanical Engineer:
Pros: Time budgets are estimated for each project, and work is somewhat scheduled. I don't have to work 60+ hours per week like my past job at another company. At least my department has some way to determine how loaded the staff is.
Cons: We do some things in antiquated ways for a larger company. We are very much a budget-based company for each project and many times, others decide what the hours estimate will be. Normally, the estimates are too lean and they go over. We never really document and learn from our over-budget experiences in order to do a better estimate for future projects. We measure everything in crude ways just to cover our butts, as opposed capture the reasons to improve our process.
